Calvary Lutheran Church Council Meeting November 13, 2007
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by President Terry Hepola at 7:34PM with the following members present: Pastor Holtan, Cindy Hurt, Laura Neitzke, Cindy Olson, Harvey Kraabel, Lisa Peterson, Lori Meader, Sheri Johnson, Randy Jensen and Melody Scott. Also Present: Shirley Pauna, Erin Anderson, Randy Graham, Sue Delaney, Ron Ringsven, and Joe Blesi
Treasurer’s Report: Randy Graham presented the treasurer’s report as follows:
October Revenue: General Fund: $32,007.99 and Building Fund $5,535.12
October Expense: General Fund: $32,725.01 and Building Fund $5,832.00
October Balance: General Fund $(717.02) and Building Fund $(296.88)
Year To Date Balance: General Fund $(10,908.43) and Building Fund $(7,605.88)
Action: Laura Neitzke moved Pastor Holtan seconded the following: Be it resolved that the Treasurer’s report be accepted as presented. Motion passed unanimously.

Stewardship: The Committee is asking that all fund raising requests be turned in to the Stewardship Committee as soon as possible so that a master schedule can be developed. The Committee also reported that the new offering envelopes will be mailed out bi-monthly starting in December 2007 for the 2008 calendar year.
Staff Reports
Pastor: Pastor Holtan presented a summary of his work activities for the month of October. He also presented a letter from Warren Larson outlining a card playing activity that would involve some small scale gambling for the Men’s Ministry during the winter months. Discussion followed and the Pastor will get back to Warren.
Youth Director: The youth raised $4,148.32 from the Pumpkins for Purpose Project (pumpkin growing and harvest activity aided by Rich and Carol Bucholz). Thanksgiving baskets will be put together Sunday, November18 and delivered later that day.
Volunteer Coordinator Task Force. The Task force continuous to study the tasks and duties that could be handled by a Volunteer Coordinator. The Task Force will have a recommendation for the Council at the December Council meeting.

Committee Events Photo Options: Sue Delaney asked for pictures from the various Committee activities. She would prefer that the pictures be submitted digitally.
2008 Budget: A line by line discussion was held on the 2008 budget. The expense requests of the budget total $420,254 equally approximately an 8% increase over the 2007 year. The Committee Chairs were asked to go back to their Committees and see if there are any line items in their budget that could be reduced. The Pastor made a strong pitch for a better effort in the contributions to the MN NW Synod. The Council will attempt to finalize the budget at the December Council Meeting
Resolution to Assist in the Recovery of Galilean Lutheran Church, New Orleans. An appeal has gone out to all ELCA Churches for a $100.00 contribution to help maintain the Galilean Church. The Galilean Church has lost a major part of its membership as a result of hurricane Katrina and they are struggling to meet day to day expenses. Action: Terry Hepola moved, Cindy Hurt seconded the following: Be It Resolved that Calvary donate $100.00 to the maintenance of the Galilean Church in New Orleans. Motion passed unanimously.
Thanksgiving Offering to World Hunger Appeal: Action: Sheri Johnson moved, Laura Neitzke seconded the following: Be It Resolved that the Thanksgiving offering be given to support World Hunger Appeal. Motion Passed unanimously
