President. Expressed a request from the Cottage Groups for a more direct line of communication between the Cottage Groups and the Council. A small Task Force has been put together to address this matter.
Pastor. Pastor Holtan would like to explore moving First Communion down from the current 5th grade level to the third grade. The consensus of the Council was to continue the discussion and make a decision at the regular January meeting whether or not to add this topic to the Annual Meeting agenda. It was also recommended that this topic be addressed at the January Cottage Meetings and also at a Forum between Services in January.
Youth Director. The youth have decided to give 10% of their pumpkin money to the NW Synod. The Cross program was not well attended on December 2 and consideration is being given to ending the Program. The Salvation Army meal program is in great need of juice and request is being made for donations. Erin informed the Council that he has received a Call from the NW Synod to serve as an assistant to the Bishop. If he accepts, he will begin in March and Calvary will need to look for a new Youth Director.
Volunteer Coordinator Task Force. The recommendation of the Task Force was to add a 16 hour per week position that would be called a Gifts and Ministry’s Coordinator. Said position would address the integration of new members into Calvary and make contact with inactive members. The Council consensus was to reduced the time allotted to 12 hours per week. The topic will be addressed again 1at the January Meeting
Christmas Eve Schedule for 2008. There is a desire by some members of the Congregation to have a late service on Christmas Eve. This topic will be addressed at the January Meeting for Christmas in 2008.
Respectfully Submitted, Harvey Kraabel, Secretary
