Children's Ministry

Children's Ministry Program. Our goal for each child attending the Children's Ministry program is to learn about and experience the love of our Lord Jesus Christ, and acquire knowledge of the Bible through a variety of fun learning experiences. Our Children's Ministry program runs through the school year Sundays at 9:40 a.m. and Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. If you'd like to see this year's Children's Ministry Schedule, check out the Sunday School Calendar. If your child is age 3 or older and is new to our Sunday School program, you can sign up on line or contact the church office.

Music Wednesdays This Fall. Our choirs and ensembles start rehearsals on Wednesdays in September, or come check out our praise team Crosswalk which leads music in worship each week. If you love music, please join us any Wednesday this fall…there’s a place for you!

Leader/Teacher Event. Confirmation leaders and Sunday School teachers event Wednesday, September 3 at 6:30 p.m. and anyone who has even an interest in teaching is welcome, with no pressure or obligation.

Rally Sunday! We are so excited to start another season of Sunday School with your children on Sunday, September 7 at 9:40. This year we will all meet in the Sanctuary to kick off our year. Families, please join your children as we will have a short worship service together. You will also get a chance to meet your child's teacher. It will be a great morning of fun and fellowship together!

Families! It's time to register your children for Sunday School! You can register on the Calvary web site or paper forms are available at the office. If you have any questions about Sunday or Wednesday School, please contact Mary Jacobson at jaco1202@me.com or 651-338-8779.

Teachers Needed. We are in need of just a few more adults to teach Sunday and Wednesday School. This is truly a rewarding and fulfilling way to serve within the church. There is no discrimination regarding your age, gender or choice of beverage; Kool-aid, coffee, or Coke, you are welcome to join our team. The only requirement we have of our teachers is that they love kids, love to have fun and love Jesus. If you think this is your dream job, but are still not convinced you are "the chosen," please contact Mary Jacobson: 651-338-8779 or jaco1202@me.com

Boys and Girls Club Fundraiser. Join us Sunday, September 7 from 11am to 1pm for a Baked Potato Lunch at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Perham. Build a potato-build a community! Come get your "spud" for the Boys & Girls Club of the Perham area! Build your own baked potato with all the fixings: chili, broccoli and cheese, bacon, onion, green pepper, sour cream, shredded cheese and more. All proceeds benefit Boys & Girls Club of the Perham area. Everyone welcome! For more information or volunteer to help contact Cori Brown at 218-346-2526.

Memory Work. Grades 1-6 have one special memorization work or Bible skill they need to learn during the year. We encourage you to help your child with their memory work. Although teachers can review memory work with them, they need your time and help to truly learn it. They will be tested and awards will be given in the spring. The 1st and 2nd grade students lead the congregation in The Lord’s Prayer and Apostles’ Creed in the spring.

Grade 1: The Lord's Prayer
Grade 2: The Apostle's Creed
Grade 3: Bible Skills*--Taught at church but at-home work recommended.
Grade 4: Books of the New Testament
Grade 5: The Ten Commandments
Grade 6: Books of the Old Testament

Common Hope Godchild Project. Our children's Sunday School offerings sponsor a Godchild in Guatemala. To learn more about the Godchld Project, visit the link at right.

Rally Sunday. We celebrate the beginning of a new Sunday School year on Rally Sunday, which is the first Sunday after Labor Day. There is food, fun and fellowship!

Christmas Celebration. The third Sunday in December. The children present a Christmas Program during the second service. The rehearsals and the Christmas program itself are an opportunity for your child to create lasting memories and make new friends as well. On that day during Sunday School, the children receive a bag full of goodies to enjoy while they watch a Christmas movie. Please join us as we tell the Christmas story and celebrate Jesus' birth!

Easter Celebration. Held on Palm Sunday. We honor Jesus with the waving of palms and songs of praise during the second service. The children also celebrate Jesus' resurrection with a party during the Sunday School time which includes food, craft project and Easter egg hunt.

Vacation Bible School. Traditionally the first week of June. We encourage all children of the community age 4 through 6th grade to come share in this time of faith-filled fun! You need not be a member of Calvary to attend! Please register in advance as this helps us have enough food and supplies for everyone. Register today! For more information or to register, visit the Church Office, call 218-346-4780 or sign up on line.

Fun Events! There are lots of fun activities for our Kindergarten through 6th grade kids. Preschoolers are always welcome when accompanied by an adult. Kids get together periodically for a variety of fun activities like popcorn and movie night in the loft, rollerskating, bowling, planting and harvesting Pumpkins for Purpose, bonfire and cookout, swimming, and family service opportunities such as the Fleece Blanket Project. It's a time to have fun with Calvary friends. Watch for upcoming events and come join in!
