Children's Ministry

Children's Ministry Program. Our goal for each child attending the Children's Ministry program is to learn about and experience the love of our Lord Jesus Christ, and acquire knowledge of the Bible through a variety of fun learning experiences. Our Children's Ministry program runs through the school year Sundays at 9:40 a.m. and Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. If you'd like to see this year's Children's Ministry Schedule, check out the Sunday/Wednesday School Calendars. If your child is age 3 or older and is new to our Sunday School program, you can sign up on line or contact the church office.

Sunday School Table Prayer. Sunday, February 7, our Calvary preschool kids will say the Common Table Prayer in worship at 2nd service.

Wednesdays in February our P3-G6 kids will meet each week including making valentines, singing, and a beach party! Sunday, February 28 there will be fun group Sunday School activity.

Do you like to scrapbook? We have some photos from Rally Sunday, the Christmas program, and Epiphany party. We would love to have someone put these together for future viewing. Please call Becky Stolee at 346-3440. Thank you

First Communion. Save the Date: First Communion Instruction March 20. We are excited to invite 3rd graders and their parents to First Communion instruction at Calvary 12-3pm on Sunday, March 20. Younger siblings down to first grade may also participate. First Communion will then be celebrated on Maundy Thursday, March 24, 6:30pm. Watch for more information to come.

Wednesday School. Register for Wednesday School! All kids, grades 2-6, can join! Registered kids will be walked over from Heart of the Lakes Elementary. Once at Calvary there is snack time, music, Bible lesson and activity. Wednesday School will be 3:30-5:00 p.m. Questions? Call Becky Stolee at 346-3440. Registration forms in the fellowship hall under the bulletin board.

Nursery Available. We have a nursery available for infants-5 year olds. It is staffed during the education hour and 10:45 a.m. worship service. There’s a fresh coat of paint and new faith-based story books and story Bibles. Worried about dropping off your child and not knowing if a problem arises? We now have a pager system. When you check your child into the nursery, you will receive a pager (much like the one you receive when waiting for a table at a restaurant). If you are needed, your pager will buzz and light up. Drop your child off for 10 minutes or the whole worship service. Thank you to the Endowment Committee for the grant to purchase this system.

Sunday School Messaging. To receive Sunday School messages via text, text @jesuskids to 81010. You can opt out of messages at any time by replying ‘unsubscribe @jesuskids’ and if having trouble using 81010 by texting @jesuskids to number (612) 246-3805 instead. Standard text message rates apply. Or to receive messages via email, send an email to jesuskids@mail.remind.com. To unsubscribe, reply with ‘unsubscribe’ In the subject line.

Memory Work. Grades 1-6 have one special memorization work or Bible skill they need to learn during the year. We encourage you to help your child with their memory work. Although teachers can review memory work with them, they need your time and help to truly learn it. They will be tested and awards will be given in the spring. The 1st and 2nd grade students lead the congregation in The Lord’s Prayer and Apostles’ Creed in the spring.

Grade 1: The Lord's Prayer
Grade 2: The Apostle's Creed
Grade 3: Bible Skills*--Taught at church but at-home work recommended.
Grade 4: Books of the New Testament
Grade 5: The Ten Commandments
Grade 6: Books of the Old Testament

Common Hope Godchild Project. Our children's Sunday School offerings sponsor a Godchild in Guatemala. To learn more about the Godchld Project, visit the link at right.

Rally Sunday. We celebrate the beginning of a new Sunday School year on Rally Sunday, which is the first Sunday after Labor Day. There is food, fun and fellowship!

Christmas Celebration. Traditionally the third Sunday in December. The children present a Christmas Program during the second service. The rehearsals and the Christmas program itself are an opportunity for your child to create lasting memories and make new friends as well. On that day during Sunday School, the children receive a bag full of goodies to enjoy while they watch a Christmas movie. Please join us as we tell the Christmas story and celebrate Jesus' birth!

Easter Celebration. Held on Palm Sunday. We honor Jesus with the waving of palms and songs of praise during the second service. The children also celebrate Jesus' resurrection with a party during the Sunday School time which includes food, craft project and Easter egg hunt.

Vacation Bible School. Traditionally the first week of June. We encourage all children of the community age 4 through 6th grade to come share in this time of faith-filled fun! You need not be a member of Calvary to attend! Please register in advance as this helps us have enough food and supplies for everyone. Register today! For more information or to register, visit the Church Office, call 218-346-4780 or sign up on line.

Fun Events! There are lots of fun activities for our Kindergarten through 6th grade kids. Preschoolers are always welcome when accompanied by an adult. Kids get together periodically for a variety of fun activities like popcorn and movie night in the loft, rollerskating, bowling, planting and harvesting Pumpkins for Purpose, bonfire and cookout, swimming, and family service opportunities such as the Fleece Blanket Project. It's a time to have fun with Calvary friends. Watch for upcoming events and come join in!

Wednesday School. Kids grade 2 through grade 6 are invited to join Wednesday School. Each Wednesday that there are Confirmation classes, Calvary will have Wednesday School from 3:30–5 p.m. Students will be walked from Heart of the Lakes Elementary School to Calvary, have a snack, sing, and participate in fun Bible activities. Permission slips will be available at Calvary beginning on Rally Sunday. We need parent signatures to bring kids from school. One signature will stay at the school and one signature will be on file at Calvary. Parents will be asked to help provide a snack.
