FROM OUR COUNCIL
Calvary’s church council is excited to announce the appointment of Pastor Steve Dahl to serve on an interim basis. Pastor Dahl will help us in two capacities. First, he will serve as our full time lead Pastor during Pastor Holtan’s sabbatical. Pastor Holtan will be on the first leg of his sabbatical leave May 6-June 15. During that time Pastor Dahl will preach and teach the Word of God, lead worship, preside at Holy Communion, visit those in need and provide for the pastoral needs of the congregation.
The second capacity that Pastor Dahl will serve is to fill a number of ministry needs when Pastor Holtan returns.
This past year we have had a number of vacancies in part-time ministry positions. Calvary’s council has been struggling with how best to fill these needs and support Pastor Holtan in the mission of the church. As we enter a strategic planning process, it is impossible at this time to be sure what direction Calvary will be headed when we complete the process. The strategic plan will direct the personnel makeup needed to fulfill the plan. In the meantime, we have a lot of areas of important work that need to get done. Pastor Dahl will serve as an interim to meet those needs. In order to be good stewards of and not to exceed our budget, we will use him in a 2/3 time capacity. He will direct his energies to our Stephen Ministry, Social Ministry, new members, adult education and pastoral ministry as directed by Pastor Holtan.
Calvary is a growing and active congregation and we are excited to have Pastor Dahl to help us meet our mission. Because of the nature of the interim process, Pastor Dahl will not be eligible for permanent call to any position within Calvary.
Pastor Steve Dahl is an experienced intentional interim pastor, having just completed interims at Bethlehem in Ulen and Immanuel in Wadena. He and his wife Candice are also members of Calvary; they love their lake home and neighbors on Big McDonald Lake. You may have seen Steve chanting Holden Evening Prayer or singing in our choir.
Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Pastor Dahl.
