Who are the women of Calvary? The women of Calvary are part of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America--WELCA. Calvary women meet several times each year and participate in many annual events. Their programs encourage spiritual growth and offer opportunity for extending Christian love and concern locally, nationally and globally. They provide financial support and personal involvement in numerous projects. Fellowship with women from other congregations of the ELCA is enjoyed at conferences and workshops. If you'd like to know more about Women's Ministry at Calvary, please contact one of our women's ministry leaders who can answer your questions or help you get involved in an area that interests you. For more information see our handbook.
What is the best part about participating in Women of the ELCA? That question was asked in a survey of over 2000 participants. The top answer was the friendship and support of the women in the congregation. Bible study was second, and the opportunity to care for others was third. Are you surprised by that? For women throughout the country friendships develop and are nurtured through the women's organization. Friends walk together through illness, divorce, death, job loss and more. Women pray together and mentor each other in faith. Friends celebrate births, graduations, new jobs and other milestones together. Come and see!
Bible Studies provide an opportunity for spiritual growth and Christian fellowship.
Stewardship projects include Baptismal Napkins, Quilts & Banners, Bibles For 3rd Grade Sunday School Children, Church Library books, Cards Sent To The Ill and Shut-Ins, Clothing Drives, Community Outreach, Cradle Roll, Luther Crest Bible Camp Camperships, Lutheran World Relief, Nursing Home Devotions, Pull Tops and Box Tops for Special Projects, Quilting ministry, and a Thankoffering service in November.
Nursing Home Devotions. The first Thursday of each month [April-December] at 10:30 a.m., volunteers assist nursing home residents with materials during worship at the nursing home. After worship, volunteers get together for food, fun and fellowship. If you’re interested or have questions, contact Net Kupferschmid.
Visitation. Calvary women visit monthly those who are homebound or live in a nursing home. Each Circle is responsible to have members visit at least monthly for a four-month period. A folder for each person to be visited includes the address and other pertinent information. Circle months are: Faith: January-February-March-April; Peace: May-June-July-August; Charity: September-October-November-December. Contact Circle Chairs with any questions.
